I Remember When: And he said:

And he said: “I ain’t coming to the Reunion”

Just the other day, I came across a fellow graduate whom I hadn’t seen in quite a while walking down town.  As it is my usual custom, I welcomed him with a bright, back tooth showing smile and my usual uncanny excitement. After the standard greetings and good wishes were exchanged, I asked him if he was excited about our upcoming reunion, whether he had visited our web page, contributed a bio or had he attended any of the recent reunion meetings?

Then, with an odd pause, he said chokingly, “Man, Cecil I ain’t coming to the reunion.”  He explained further, “I haven’t accomplished anything yet, and I don’t want people to think less of me.  You know how they does go?”

I was baffled to say the least to hear his sentiments. I could not believe that there are people who still have issues concerning events that had happened during our high school stint.  Nonetheless, briefly, I entertained his point.  But quickly retorted, “But who the hell cares what they think!  Our reunion is a celebration.  It may in fact be our last celebration together.  It’s a celebration of life, a recollection and appreciation of our past and the possible rekindling of old friendships.  If there is no other reason to come to the reunion, the sole reason should be: just to say that you were there!  I am sure Mario and Demetrie, God rest their souls, would have been right there dancing elephant man’s blaze, or the ‘pon de river.  Truly, if you don’t come it would be an affront to their memory.”

Fortunately, at the end of my drawn out tirade, which included vivid demonstrations of dances and odd faces, he exclaimed, “Ok I’s coming then, I never looked at it that way!”  And I responded happily, “Yeah man, see you at the reunion, e’ry one gon be there.  I’s learning all the new dances too, cause me and my sweetie planning to mash up the dance floor!”

Earth Spinners: Response to Obediah’s untitled poem

Man, that sounds painful. T’s definately something you should not experience again. Find a better hobby; a recreation which makes one sigh in contentment, instead of scream in anguish!

Earth Spinners: Response to Obediah’s poem

Obie,

Powerful words to say the least! I felt as if I were there eating and slurping ice cream: vanilla with nuts. A big bowl full, with a small spoon, anxious and eager to be satisfied.

There are times, when we must remember to pay tribute, to give thanks for certain gifts, certain pleasures and for certain opportunities. There are times when we should pause and remember that there was a day 7, thus we should seethe to worship, to simply give thanks!

Crack

I could have eaten her pussy like ice cream
I could have eaten ice cream out of her pussy

but I held way back, wanting her to keep her mind in tact

wanting mine in tact to give back to God,
to go back to God with

her pussy, as pretty, as well made as any cone
our minds as fragile

Bahamas Issues: They will always be just Haitians

They will always be just HaItians…

In the Bahamas we have a problem! We are being invaded by the hundreds by illegal immigrants. Our limited resources are being overwhelmed and exhausted. We are desperate to find a solution. Consequently, our Lord and Saviour sent us one: in the likes of the Hon. Shane Gibson. A just, and forthright man.

Bahamians celebrated because finally, there was a Daniel, a David, a Solomon who would save us. Finally there was a new Roker in town. A no nonsense type man; someone who is serious about solving this illegal immigrant problem. Someone who would rid us of our plague By Any Means Neccessary!

So with some new hard lined policies in place, off Mr. Gibson and his crusaders go to the island of Eleuthera, (he plans to visit and to revisit every island of the Bahamas until he rids us of our illegal immigrant problem) to a particular settlement, where it is said that almost everyone knows everybody and surely knows everyone’s elses business.

Eleuthera always had an illegal immigration problem, at least so it seemed. There are HaItians all over the damn place. All working, seemingly enjoying life while Bahamians looked on, longing for an opportunity to be employed. It was clear that these buggas had to go!

Consequenlty, in the wee hours of the morning, I suspect around 2am to 3am, (The Bahama Journal said it was around 4am -5am, but we all know HaItians don’t sleep that late; they start work at 6am on the farms), police officers with warrents burst through a seemingly illegal immigrant village, looking for what: illegal immigrants or perhaps forged documents. Nevertheless, No Illegals were there! Just a large number of Haitian Bahamians with Bahamian passports, who have been living in the Bahamas for years. Others had work permits which the Bahamians on the island had legally obtained for them in order to work on their farms. But the officers did not care. Why? Because they were all just HaItians and will always just be that! So handcuffed, with documents in hand, they were marched to the docks, boarded on ships and shipped to Nassau in order to have their documents checked. Apparently, Eleuthera is still so primitive, that there exist no telephones to call head quarters to check on names, no computers with databases, no fax, no mordern equipment to help with solving this situation. Oh well, Help and Hope still coming for them!

According to the Bahama Journal:

“Minister Gibson explained in an interview with the Bahama Journal on Sunday that a Haitian man was convicted in Miami last week for possessing hundreds of blank Bahamian work permits.”

He said the situation raised the red flag and immigration and police officials were taking no chances.”

So, it seems as if every HaItian is guilty now because of this, even the ones who have Bahamian passports. In the United States, they would call such a statement racial profiling, which is a crime. But thank God we are not in the good ole USA, for it seems as if here,we can do anything and get away with it.

The minister also stressed that what happened in Eleuthera “was not a raid”.

Apparently, I do not know what a raid is, especially after locking up 193 people!

“The police were executing search warrants,” he said. “They ran into people they thought were here illegally.”

Hmm, they casually ran into persons in their houses at 2am who they thought were illegal. Wow, only in the Bahamas can such a thing happen! And how does one obtain a warrent of search, especially since it was not a raid. Perhaps, the Police had a tip? Or maybe they knew one or two had to be illegal or at least habouring illegals. ‘Cause they just HaItians, they guilty from birth. The Police searched umpteen houses, they must have had a number of warrents for each house.

Furthermore, when asked whether immigration officers were with police during the arrests, Minister Gibson said on Sunday, “I’m not sure if my officers were with police.”

Not sure?! hmm. Days later and the good Minister is not sure…Is it, that the Minister is not sure, or don’t care! Is it possible that illegal immigrants, (beg your pardon, Haitian Bahamians) were being detained for being in the Bahamas illegally, and the Immigration department was not involved? My God, the travesty!

Out of 193 persons arrested, detained, shipped to Nassau, then locked up at the detention centre, 179 of them were either HaItian Bahamian or had authenticated work permits. That’s 93% Our police were off by 93%. But they were doing their jobs, we all understand that, because the Bahamas has a problem that needs to be addressed. Should the police force apologise to that community? Hell No! For what, “they will always be just HaItians anyways! right?

Bahamas Issues: Combative Spirit within Bahamian Politics

Combative spirit in Bahamian politics

Oddly enough, there are some politicians who have sheer nerve to boldly criticize Bahamian teachers in public, concerning their negoitating tactics in regards to their contract with the government. It seems as if certain politicians are wearing horse blinders when it comes to their own faults.

I for one find it humourous that not a word was mentioned when Leslie Miller had a heated row with a foreign investor which almost came to blows. I find it peculiar that not a thing was said, when Neville Wisdom threatened that gentleman over not being allow to play golf free in Exuma. Not to mention that again nothing was said when Koed Smith cussed out Ivonne Ingraham in parliament square as he was entering the honorable House.

It seems as if what is good for the goose is not good for the gander…It seems as if Bahamian politicians are able to cuss out, threaten and insult whomever they wish at will. But oh, let anyone else confront them, or protest about ill treatment, they shout foul, citing the need for them to be good role models for the Bahamian youth. It just seems as if some people need to get fired!
