Yeah I Wrote This!

Its been over a year now since the FNM took the reign again, and our country’s main thoroughfare still looks the same, i.e grimey. Our major tourism product mecca besides Atlantis is still lacking, yet we continue to remain silent; our government continue to be closed mouth.

Bahamians like good Christians continue to live in hope. Hope that soon, our one good leader, Mr. Ingraham will do something, will inact change. As in truth, we now realize more and more that it seems as if only he is is first rate, as the entire FNM party is lacking in leadership and direction and moreso, the PLP party is finished; bankrupt of original thought and insight.

There were talks of a green space, talks of moving the trailers, talks of erecting the straw market, talks about moving the straw market, talks of pressure washing, talks of commitees governing store owners and explaining their mandate to the Bahamas; in fact, there were even talk of changing the entire down town area, making it less Bahamian and more ‘mordern’, with condominiums and high rises, with more gucci and fendi shops. Yet nothing.

Mind you, there have been some new street signs and Bacardi has been brave enough to set up a novelty shop down town, but is that enough. It seems as if the more things change, the more things remain the same. But the truth is, Bahamians are hungry for change. We see the Caribbean quickly catching us up in sophistication, we see we are wavering in the world of competition and we see our children are at risk and their future more challenging that ever. Therefore, we demand change, look for change, humbly asking for change, nothing dramatic, something we can join in on and be proud of. Something that will encourage us to march on.
